I scratch built this 1/4 scale gee bee model airplane about 15 years ago. It is the 3rd 1/4 scale gee bee R-1 that I built and the first 2 had a habit of going on their noses or over on landing. I sold one to hang in the Airtel plaza hotel in Van Nuys airport California and the 2nd to a military surplus store to display.
On this, my 3rd one, I added split flaps which are not visible except when landing and it turned it into a landing pussycat. Slow and full control and no tendencies to ground loop or nose over. I retired it after 35 flights and removed the Moki 210 engine and it has been on display in my home ever since. All the servos and wiring are still intact and it had on-board glow. Just needs an engine and receiver to make it fly.
It is currently on an overhead shelf it shares with a 1/3 scale model I built of my real “Cobra” racing biplane I used to race all over the United States 35 years ago.
The price is exactly what I sold the first 2 for that are still on display 20 years ago and this one is a far better flying airplane. The wing does come off but I have no facilities to create a box large enough to hold either the wing or the fuselage. Will consider delivery within 350 miles of Las Vegas.
